Negro Mate is an artisanal mezcal brand from Etúcuaro, Madero, Michoacán, México, created to honor the heritage of mezcal-making while presenting it in a modern, refined way. Rooted in regional tradition and crafted at a registered Palenque, Negro Mate reflects a balance between time honored methods and a contemporary approach designed for today’s discerning drinker.

Produced and bottled in Michoacán, our mezcales Espadín, Cupreata, and Triple Ensamble showcase the diversity of agave and terroir found in the region, ranging from smooth and approachable to bold and complex. Each expression is made using stone-lined conical ovens, natural fermentation in wooden vats with spring water, and double distillation in copper pot and stainless-steel alembic, preserving the authentic character of the agave and its origin.

Negro Mate is more than mezcal. It is a cultural expression rooted in craftsmanship, a respect for place, and a commitment to sharing the spirit of Michoacán and México with the world.
